OUR TRUSTED PARTNERS

Working together to make Dartmoor more accessible, joyful and protected.

We’re proud to partner with brilliant local organisations who share our love for Dartmoor and our mission to help more families experience the magic of being outside. Whether it’s improving access, co-hosting events, or supporting young people who need extra care and confidence in nature, these partnerships help us go further.

Every collaboration is rooted in shared values, community, care and connection with the land. Together, we’re making it easier and more meaningful for families to roam wild and free.

Supporting Dartmoor together

Every Supporter Membership helps fund two vital Dartmoor charities: the Dartmoor Preservation Association and Moor Trees. These organisations work hard to protect the landscape, restore habitats, and keep Dartmoor wild and walkable. With your help, we can give back to the moor that gives us so much.

Why we’ve partnered

We believe walking connects us to Dartmoor in a powerful way. But it’s only right that we give something back too. By supporting these two organisations, every Supporter Plan directly helps to protect, restore, and improve Dartmoor for families now and in the future. Our next generation. We are not just a route directory, we are more than that, we have responsibility to ensure that everything we do helps preserve and protect Dartmoor.

Moor Trees - White SVG (2).png

One of the oldest conservation groups in the UK, the DPA has been protecting Dartmoor since 1883. They fight for access rights, campaign against threats to the landscape, and run volunteer projects to protect paths, peatland, and archaeological sites. Their work ensures future generations can enjoy the same wild places we love today.

Moor Trees - White SVG (1).png

An independent charity working to restore native woodland on Dartmoor. Moor Trees grow thousands of trees each year in their local nurseries, then replant them on degraded land across the moor. By rebuilding lost woodland, they support biodiversity, improve soil health, and help tackle climate change in a truly local way.

Moorland Guides (1).png

The Moorland Guides are a trusted network of experienced local walk leaders. They offer guided walks, school trips and accessible routes that bring Dartmoor’s history, wildlife and stories to life. Their knowledge helps people of all ages explore safely and with confidence. Their work ensures more people can enjoy Dartmoor with expert support by their side.

Adventure Therapy white

Adventure Therapy provides outdoor experiences for children, young people and adults living with mental health issues, trauma or disability. Their tailored walks, swims and nature sessions help build confidence, resilience and connection. Each outing is designed to support personal growth through gentle adventure. Their work makes wild places feel safe and healing for those who need it most.

  • How do I access the walking routes?
Once you’ve signed up for a membership, you’ll gain access through our members-only website area. Each route has its own page with a full description, terrain type, amenities, dog info, family tips, partner recommendations, and a downloadable step-by-step guide that’s optimised for your phone screen.
  • What is Dartmoor Partner?
Dartmoor Partner is your go-to guide for exploring Dartmoor with ease. We provide 35 handpicked walking routes, complete with step-by-step directions, What3Words start points, terrain features and local insights, designed specifically for families, casual walkers, and outdoor lovers who want great adventures without the faff. Explore our routes.
  • Are the routes suitable for all abilities?
Yes! Each walk is rated using our three-level system: A Doddle (1), A Trek (2), and A Challenge (3). This helps you pick the right walk for your family. You’ll also find icons and notes for things like buggy access, steep climbs, lunch spots, wild swimming, open moorland, and balance bike suitability.
  • What’s the difference between the Explorer Plan and the Supporter Plan?
Explorer Plan (£17.50/year): Fixed access to our full collection of 35 curated Dartmoor routes. No added updates during the year. Supporter Plan (£25/year): Everything in the Explorer Plan, plus early updates to routes, new additions when they launch, and priority access to Dartmoor-based events and perks from our brand partners. You’ll also be supporting our work with local charities like Moor Trees and the Dartmoor Preservation Association.
  • Do you offer longer or more advanced walks?
Currently, our focus is on easy-to-follow walks designed for families and those building confidence on Dartmoor. That said, we’re always working in the background on new offerings, including a future membership tailored to older families and more advanced walks. Stay tuned!
  • Does my membership auto-renew?
Yes, your membership renews yearly unless cancelled. We are not responsible for any subscription that renews accidentally and no refunds shall be given. We shall send you reminders leading up to the annual period to the email you provided at the time of subscribing. You’ll always retain access until the end of your subscription period, and you can cancel anytime.
  • What’s included in the membership?
You get access to all 35 handpicked Dartmoor walking routes, each with detailed descriptions, start points, amenities, icons, terrain types, family and dog suitability, and a downloadable mobile PDF. Your membership supports our mission to keep creating and expanding family-friendly walks across Dartmoor. See our plans.
  • Why do you charge for access?
We charge a small annual fee to keep the platform sustainable and to reinvest into future routes, family events, and broader Dartmoor-based projects. We believe in creating high-quality digital resources with real value, no ads on the website, no faff, just proper walks.
  • Can I cancel my membership?
Absolutely. If you do decide to cancel, we’d love your feedback. Your access will continue until your subscription ends.
  • Are these walks suitable for kids and buggies?
Each route is clearly marked with buggy/carrier suitability. We also flag up rocky ground, tricky climbs, and smoother sections for little legs or balance bikes. If it’s not suitable for wheels—we say so.
  • Can I bring my dog?
Yes, most walks are dog-friendly, but we always note where livestock or horse grazing is common. Although we suggest ‘safer’ areas, it’s your responsibility as a dog owner to maintain full control. If your dog isn’t recall-trained, please don’t let them off-lead.
  • How do I know where the walk starts?
Every route includes a What3Words start point and clear parking instructions. Some even have two options! We also tell you what to expect terrain-wise and where you might grab lunch.
  • What format are the downloadable guides?
Each walk has a mobile-optimised PDF that fits your phone screen. No landscape A4s here.
  • What makes your routes different?
We don’t just list walks, we test them with our own families and add thoughtful touches like difficulty ratings, terrain info, downloadable PDFs, kid-friendly notes, lunch spots, and even balance bike testing. We build for families from the ground up, not adults retrofitted for children.
  • Do you include extended options?
Absolutely. Every walk comes with a step-by-step base route and a longer extended route for more exploring. We encourage families to venture off path if confident, our routes are one of many possibilities.
  • Do the walks loop? Or are they linear?
Most walks are circular or loop-based, but they’re not designed for speed hiking. Our focus is on creating a great family day out, enjoy lunch, splash in a stream, and take your time. Around 5km is our sweet spot for a base route.
  • Are there swimming spots on your walks?
Yes! We flag these with our wild swimming icon. Always assess the safety of the water on the day, and never swim alone or during high flow.
  • Do you include seasonal advice?
Yes. Many routes include notes on best seasons, wildlife, lambing season (1st March–31st July), and what to expect throughout the year. Spoiler alert, there’s plenty of snow too!
  • What’s the corporate package about?
We now offer a corporate membership designed for hotels, B&Bs, retreats and eco-accommodation providers. This includes route access for guests, tailored printouts, co-branding opportunities, and local promotion.
  • Do you run events or meetups?
Yes! We host family meetups and community walks throughout the year. Follow our newsletter or check our blog for updates.
  • Can I recommend a walk or join the project?
We’re not taking new route submissions just yet, but we’re always up for collaborations with local businesses or creatives who love Dartmoor. Drop us a message at hello@dartmoorpartner.co.uk.
  • Will you be adding more routes in future?
Yes, but only for Supporter Members. Our Explorer Plan includes a fixed set of 35 routes, while supporters get new additions when they launch.
  • Do you work with local businesses?
Yes. Our brand partners include charities, cafés, experience providers, and guides. They support our mission, and we support them by featuring them on route pages and in our updates. If you’d like to partner, get in touch.
  • Where can I learn more?
Start with our blog, meet our partners, or check out how we got started.
  • I’m having trouble logging in, what should I do?
Try resetting your password. Still stuck? Just email us at hello@dartmoorpartner.co.uk and we’ll help.
  • How do I contact Dartmoor Partner?
Email us at hello@dartmoorpartner.co.uk with any questions. No bots. Just us.
