Dewerstone Walk and The Leaping Salmon, Horrabridge

Dewerstone Walk
The Dewerstone walk starts at Cadover Bridge and offers two clearly different route lengths. The 5km base walk is rated A Trek 2/3 and heads across open ground to the viewpoint, while the 7.3km extension adds woodland and riverside sections beside the River Plym.
The shorter option is the simpler family route and can suit off road buggies. It gives you the open moorland section and viewpoint without committing to the rougher terrain that comes later on the full loop.
The extended route changes character once it enters the woodland. Rocky paths, roots and riverside ground make it slower and more physical, so carriers are more practical there. For families, that makes the route easy to judge on the day: turn back after the viewpoint or continue only if everyone is comfortable.
Members can open the full Dewerstone route for both options, exact parking at Cadover Bridge, GPS navigation and the point where the extended loop leaves the easier base route.
The food and drink stop:

The Leaping Salmon sits beside the River Walkham in Horrabridge and is a useful stop on the western side of Dartmoor.
It is currently operating as a daytime cafe, open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 2.30pm. The pub cellar is being refurbished, so check the latest arrangements before relying on evening food or drinks.
There is a car park, highchairs and a tiered garden, making it practical for families arriving after the walk.
Use the cafe button for current details and the route button when you want the complete Dewerstone map and member route notes.
