The Bridford Inn

The Bridford Inn sits high in the Teign Valley, in the pretty village of Bridford on the eastern edge of Dartmoor.

This is a family run 17th century free house with all the good old pub details you hope for after time outside: exposed beams, stone walls, an original inglenook fireplace, a cosy log burner and a big, well stocked bar. In warmer weather, the south facing beer garden looks out across the surrounding Dartmoor countryside, making it a lovely place to sit back after woodland paths, reservoir walks or a slower family wander through the valley.

It is also properly set up for families, dogs and even horses, with a relaxed welcome, traditional board games, pub games, a pool table, darts, baby changing facilities and a small village shop on site for day to day essentials. That makes it a useful stop for routes around Trenchford, Tottiford, Woolston and the River Teign, where woodland, water and quiet lanes create a softer kind of Dartmoor day.

Food is worth planning around rather than leaving to chance. The pub runs a changing specials board for evening meals from Wednesday to Saturday, and Sunday lunch is served from 12pm to 3pm, with roasts including beef, chicken, lamb or pork, plus a nut roast option and mini roast.
